Aspartame, a Sweet Danger

Aspartame is the most dangerous, toxic chemical in the food you eat and the beverages you drink. Most articles will tell you aspartame is used as a sweetener in Diet Soft Drinks, Table Top Sweeteners, Gelatins and some Fruit Drinks. We’re going to give you a much longer yet still incomplete list:

. Most products that say ‘light’ mean they contain Aspartame: Sodas, fruit juice, ice cream, yogurt, cookies

. Treats at the checkout stand, the ones parents buy to keep the children quiet while they’re checking out. Any products that say ‘sugar free’: gum, candy, breath mints usually contain Aspartame

.Most products that say ‘reduced sugar’…cake mix, cocoa mix, cereals…

To avoid the dangers of aspartame and other toxins, you must read the labels on everything you and your loved ones are going to eat. Here’s why.

Could I Be Making Myself Sick?

Aspartame accounts for over 75 percent of the adverse reactions to food additives reported to the FDA. Many of these reactions are very serious including seizures and death.

According to the United States Department of Health and Human Service, a few of the 90 different documented symptoms listed in their report to the FAD as being caused by aspartame include: Headaches/migraines, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia, insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus, vertigo, memory loss, and joint pain.

Which Diseases can Aspartame Cause?

Researchers and physicians studying the adverse effects of aspartame, tell us the following chronic illnesses can be triggered or worsened by ingesting aspartame: Brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, parkinson's disease, alzheimer's, mental retardation, lymphoma, birth defects, fibromyalgia, and diabetes.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Nancy Appleton, PhD, clinical nutritionist, has compiled a list of the harmful effects of fructose in her books Lick the Sugar Habit, Healthy Bones, Heal Yourself With Natural Foods, The Curse Of Louis Pasteur and Lick the Sugar Habit Sugar Counter. She points out that consumption of fructose causes a significant increase in the concentration of uric acid. Increased uric acid can be an indicator of heart disease.

. Fructose is converted to fatty acids by the liver at a greater rate than glucose. When consumed in excess of dietary glucose…it can cause diarrhea.

. Fructose interacts with oral contraceptives and elevates insulin levels in women on birth control pills

. There is significant evidence that high sucrose diets may alter intracellular metabolism, which in turn facilitates accelerated aging through oxidative damage.

. Because it is metabolized by the liver, fructose does not allow the pancreas to release insulin the way it normally does.

. Fructose converts to fat more than any other sugar. This may be one of the reasons Americans continue to get fatter.

. Fructose raises serum triglycerides significantly – one of the cholesterol numbers to watch.

. Fructose also inhibits copper metabolism--another example of the sweeteners double-whammy effect. A deficiency in copper leads to bone fragility, anemia, defects of the connective tissue, arteries, and bone, infertility, heart arrhythmias, high cholesterol levels, heart attacks, and an inability to control blood sugar levels.

Where Will I Find Fructose?

Where will you find high fructose corn syrup? Read the labels! You’ll see it’s an ingredient in almost every processed food you eat: mustard, mayonnaise, sodas, candy, gum, cake, cookies, yogurt, milk, catsup – the list goes on and on. The lesson is this. Cut way down on processed food. Eat mostly what God/Nature has provided. You’ll be much healthier and live much longer.

Tran Fat and Saturated Fats

Here is a direct quote from the FDA:

“Scientific evidence shows that consumption of saturated fat, trans fat, and dietary cholesterol raises low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol, levels, which increases the risk of coronary heart disease."

According to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute of the National Institutes of Health, more than 12.5 million Americans have coronary heart disease and more than 500,000 die each year. That makes coronary heart disease one of the leading causes of death in the United States.

Governmental regulations have cause some fast food restaurants to get rid of trans fat, but they still use unhealthy fats in cooking. If you’re not eating food cooked with olive oil, or at the least, canola oil, you’re not eating healthy.

White Processed Flour

This type of flour comes from grain that has been chemically treated, stripped of its nutrients and bleached to make it a pretty white. Remember when you mixed white flour in elementary school and it made paste and then the paste hardened. That’s what white flour does inside your body. Need we say more?

Knowing the facts, isn't it a wonder that Wonder Bread is still being made? And think of how sticky the white rice is when you order it with a Chinese meal. Anything but white, in most foods, is much better.
