Your healthy living pathway One Day At A Time
Living Healthy the Natural Healing Way
Western medicine can help guide us along a healthy living pathway. Its healing remedies come mostly in the form of prescription drugs. Eastern medicine teaches us we can also aid in healing our bodies (and minds) with other remedies: yoga, meditation, body work. Our goal is to show you how to use natural healing not instead of but as a complimentary way.
I read one book that said I was supposed to give up all prescription and over the counter drugs. In addition I had to go on a liver cleansing diet, a colon cleansing diet, drink only a certain kind of water and take dozens of natural supplements. That sounds way too complicated and time consuming. We’re going to give you a few suggestions that don’t take much time and will be easy to follow.
Healthy Living everyday
1.Need an alarm to wake up? It’s best to open your eyes in a state of calmness. That means no jarring buzzers. Set the clock to radio and wake up to music.
2.Start the day with light. Open the curtains and/or windows.
3.Get the blood and oxygen flowing. Exercise, walk, jump or jog on a mini-trampoline. Turn on an exercise program on TV. Dance to your favorite tune. Do some yoga. Get on the floor and stretch or try a ballet barre.

4.Sit down (important) and eat a healthy breakfast. An egg is a good protein source. More whites than yolks are better since they have less cholesterol. Eat a slice of whole grain toast, a bowl of oatmeal or dry cereal. Don’t forget some fresh fruit. Breakfast is an important part of your healthy living program. And just in case you're not getting enough antioxidants in your diet, pop a couple of Muscadine Grape supplements, power packed with resveratrol.
5. Shower with aromatherapy body soap. Lather up with your favorite scent such as lavender, patchouli or citrus. You can find the products in the cosmetic section of any drugstore. Take a few minutes to relax. Feel as if the water is cleansing your body, mind and spirit.
6. Wash your hair with a gentle product that smells wonderful. As you rinse, let the water soothe you. And while you’re in there, massage your scalp. It seems to wake up your brain.
7.Use moisturizer on your face. To keep your skin healthy, follow this rule. A good healthy living suggestion? If you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. This includes antiperspirants, cosmetics, insect repellents, sunscreens, perfumes. How you know if it’s edible? Read the label and ask yourself if you would eat or drink the ingredients.
8.While sitting at your computer change positions every once in awhile. Get up frequently and walk around for a few seconds. Use a round balance ball to sit on if possible. A good practice is to elevate your legs whenever you’re sitting down.
9 Get some sun on your body (15 minutes is plenty) and don’t forget to use sunscreen. Plan wisely and stay out of the sun when it’s the strongest. That’s usually in the mid to late afternoon.
10. Treat yourself to a massage. Body work soothes the muscles, relieves tension and breaks up any knots created by stress. For an affordable massage, check the Internet or Yellow Pages under massage schools. You can get a student massage for about half the retail price.
11. Take vitamins (or prescribed medications) in the correct dosage. The ones in ones in liquid or dissolving form are often easier to take. To make sure your daily supplements become a habit, take them at the same time everyday. And put them back in the same place each time so you don’t forget.
Use natural remedies whenever possible. Try Muscadine Grape Supplements for antioxidant and anti-inflammatory powers. Maintain healthy blood pressure with Holistrol.
12. Take a nap or at least lie down for a few minutes in the afternoon. Even ten minutes will regenerate you. Work in an office? Find a quiet place in the building, a bench outside or sit quietly in your car for a few minutes. Shut out the outside world. Rest your eyes and your brain.
13. Keep sex alive! Sexual fulfillment is pleasurable, fun and good for your health. We’re here to make healthy suggestions. You figure out the details.
14. Drink lots of pure water. Dehydration often causes aches and pains, particularly headaches. If you don’t like the taste, or the lack of taste, add a squeeze of leman. Make green tea a healthy addition to your diet. It has proven to protect your body from certain kinds of cancer.
15. Commit to eating healthy foods. Prepare or bring your own lunch you’ve packed the night before. It’s easy to make a healthy meal. Sometimes on a Sunday, I’ll cook a turkey breast, slice it into pieces, put the slices into a few plastic freezer bags. I take out a bag in the morning and eat the turkey for lunch over some greens or in a tortilla.
Healthy Hint: Eat something every two hours. That way you won’t inhale your dinner after having starved yourself all day.
16. Inhale lots of fresh air. Do some gardening, sweep a sidewalk, walk to a mailbox, visit a neighbor, walk the dog fast enough to increase your heart rate. That will burn calories, wake up your cells and move life-giving oxygen through your body and bloodstream. If you don’t have a dog, borrow your neighbor’s.

17. Throw away that scratchy blanket. Treat yourself to a soft, fluffy comforter. It won’t irritate your skin and feels great. Surround yourself with things that ‘comfort’ you: a favorite chair, an old flannel anything, a cup of hot chocolate or soothing tea, a tranquil bath.
18. Begin shutting down 30 minutes before you want to go to sleep. Dim the lights, watch something calming on TV or read a soothing book. Get at least 7-8 hours sleep every night.
This list gives you a blueprint you can follow to stay healthy. You don’t have to do everything. Add one item at a time, then another.Follow these healthy ways of living and you will look younger, feel younger and no doubt add years to your life. You deserve the gift of health.
