Miraculous Muscadine
For Vibrant Pet Health

Who’s the Boss

In my house, pet health is on my mind daily. I confess. I’m totally obsessive about my dogs and I use natural remedies whenever possible. My two boxers eat better than most people. Since the recall scare in pet foods, I cook special food for them. I also bake cookies - in the shape of doggie bones, of course. They get walked twice a day, they’re never alone more than three hours at a time and they sleep anywhere they choose. In other words, Baxter and Stevie run my life. And I am a willing volunteer.

Most puppies are pretty healthy. Take them for their shots and they’re fine. As they get older, often pet health changes. I recall bringing Baxter in for a checkup at age 7. My vet said, “You know, after 7, bad things can happen.” I don’t want to hear that, I don’t want to think that and I don’t want to believe that as so.

Other options besides medication and anesthesia

As soon as the vet finds something even minimally awry, he prescribes some kind of medication. Before you take any drugs or give them to your dog to maintain good pet health, check out drugs.com. They list the side effects of every drug, alphabetically. On the site I researched Rimadyl, a much prescribed anti-inflammatory. I found it was Vioxx, the human drug that Merck took off the market after people were dying from the side effects. Rimadyl eventually destroys your dog’s liver. We have a better, safer solution – Muscadine Plus, a product that has worked miracles on dogs, cats and horses.

Veterinarians will tell you dogs need their teeth cleaned. And in order to do that, they have to be put out, usually to the tune of about $300. I have a vet technician who sits on the floor with my dog and thoroughly cleans his teeth. There are people like this all over the world, I’m sure.

Nature, Your Best Medicine

Most books will tell you not to feed your dog table scraps. This is true only if you eat an unhealthy diet. The truth is dogs thrive on the same vegetables we’re supposed to eat: broccoli, green beans, asparagus, carrots. Sweet potatoes are a good way to maintain pet health. And lean ground or chopped meat is great for them. Giving them fatty foods bothers their digestive system and makes them fat.

You can use natural remedies for almost any kind of pet situation. For those items not found in an ordinary drug store, you can find them in any good health food store. For example:

. Dry shampoo – massage baking soda into your pet’s fur , then brush it out. Just as baking soda absorbs odors in your refrigerator, it deodorizes your dog
. Dryer sheets – put a dryer sheet underneath your couch cushion. It will absorb the odor and make your couch smell good. You can use them in your car as well, underneath the seats, but maybe only one, cut up. The fragrance in a closed car can be quite overwhelming.
. Digestive problems – Try a few drops of Slippery elm (liquid) from a health store.
. Shedding – Use one of those new lint rollers, they work great and the fur stays on the roller
. Upset stomach – A little Pepto Bismol. If vomiting or diarrhea continues, take your pet to the vet.
. Bumps, bruises, swelling – Arnica Gel. Apply the gel up to four times daily. Use only if there are no open wounds.
. Motion sickness- Rescue Remedy

I will do anything to keep my dogs healthy, safe and comfortable. If that means medication or surgery, I will do it. But first, I will try other, safer alternatives. Please don’t blindly medicate your animals without trying natural remedies first.
